Had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant this evening.
If you're looking for healthy and authentic Taiwanese dishes, this is the place for you. All the food is thoughtfully prepared with a focus on health and nourishment.
The flavors are more subtle and clean compared to the rich, savory taste you might expect from traditional Taiwanese dishes — a refreshing take that emphasizes natural ingredients and balance.
Do give it a try!
Absolutely delicious Taiwanese food. Located in Harbourfront, this restaurant serves brilliant fried chicken. The lime goes well with the salt and pepper, giving it a nice tangy and salty flavour. Braised chicken wings were sweet and tender and the braised pork rice was delicious. Highly recommended
First visit to this restaurant and we ordered some of their signature dishes. We tried three braised item, Pork Large Intestine was the best, with a strong herbal flavor and a nice crunch. The tempura and chicken gizzard were just average. The chicken mid-joint wings used the same braised sauce but were more deeply infused, I personally think is the better choice.
The fried rice was okay, with most of its flavor coming from the Chinese sausage. The highlight was definitely the Spicy Sesame Noodle, the sauce was thick, creamy, and full of flavor, with a slight kick of spiciness. Interestingly, I could taste a subtle tea-like note as well. However, the dish didn’t come with any meat or vegetables, which made it feel a little incomplete.
Unfortunately, the dining experience was marred by an unpleasant encounter with a waiter. While we were still finishing our meal, the waiter suddenly took away the bowl in front of me without asking (although it was empty), I was still reaching for side dishes and not done eating. I gave him a glare, but he seemed unfazed and continued clearing the rest of the plates. I found this behavior quite impolite and disappointing, especially from a well-established restaurant. It’s something they really need to take note of.
Half of their name is letter o. Anyways, not sure if this makes sense but the dishes were really good but are only good on its own🤨? The dishes shine on their own but don't complement each other. I did like the soups as they were flavourful, as well as the popcorn chicken as it gave me an exam buff 💯 💪. Not halal, no cilantro
Moon Moon Food, VivoCity, Singapore
Located within VivoCity shopping mall, Moon Moon Food offers Taiwanese dishes in a casual setting. Despite having received a few years of Michelin Bib recognition, the flavors tend to be quite mild and lack depth. Service quality was inconsistent, with some staff displaying a reluctance to engage politely with customers. Additionally, the prices are on the higher side for the portion sizes and overall experience.
Walked past this restaurant when shopping in Vivo and decided to give it a try. Only when browsing the menu when we realized they serve Taiwanese dish. We had gizzard, pig skin and pig ear as the three braised items. We also ordered the peeled Chili pepper chicken soup, spicy sesame noodle and Taiwanese salty crispy poppers. The dishes were all good portion and flavourful. Service was good and prompt. Will be back to try other dishes.
Staff were warm and friendly. Good service. Food quality and overall taste of all their signature dishes were subtle and well balanced, which showcased the ingredients well. Refreshing compared to the usual heavily seasoned and fried Chinese cuisine.
Maybe I had read tons of reviews that was singing its praises, and recommendation from some online platform, had some expectations, but was disappointed. Is it because of different branches? I find the food so so. Nothing fabulous for the 油饭 and 卤味。 The 油饭and卤味 had no flavour, just saltiness. Not too bad to fill stomach. The only food I like is the dessert, on sweeter side but quite flavourful. Oh the chili on the table and the 卤蛋was consider good. I was very hungry and eager when I came in too.
PS. Need to retrain some of the staff. Saw one of the server was picking his back teeth while he was cutting cross the table and walking towards the entrance to wait for walk in customers.
We had been eager to try this Michelin-awarded restaurant during our trip to Taiwan but didn’t get the chance. So when we spotted its Singapore branch at Vivocity, we were excited to finally give it a try. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live up to the expectations we had for a Michelin-recognized spot.
Here’s what we ordered:
Three-Cup Chicken – Flavorful, but lacking that standout “wow” factor.
Braised Pork Rice – It was okay, though we’ve definitely had better renditions elsewhere in Singapore.
Pork appetiser - parts of pork which was braised and nothing fanciful.
Spring Onion Noodles – The most disappointing dish. It was essentially plain noodles with just a sprinkling of spring onions and fried shallots—bland and overpriced for something so basic.
Spicy Chili Soup – Surprisingly good! Bold, spicy, and hit all the right notes for us.
Overall, I probably wouldn’t return anytime soon unless for all these at more than $80 Singapore dollar unless there’s a promotion or perhaps a dish we missed during this visit that’s worth trying.
