From placing order, our fish and chips came 10-15 mins, raw oysters took 20-25 mins, and the whole fish took 40 mins. Frankly, such long wait for below average food quality is really not worth it.
The whole fish was supposed to be for 2-sharing, but it was barely sufficient for one person. The fish taste was also pretty blend.
The raw oysters had strong smell when served, likely not too fresh. But taste of the oysters was not too bad.
As for fish and chips, no comment as it is simple, no difference from average ones you get from anywhere else.
Food was not too bad. Here’s what we got!
- Sriracha mayo cauliflower : This was really good, freshly prepared upon order so it’s hot and crisp! But the portion was a little small for sharing.
- Fish and chips, halibut, brown sauce : The fish and chips were actually not bad! But I found the batter still slightly thick for me, as it got abit gelat halfway through the meal
- Truffle Mac n cheese : I can taste the light truffle in this. Recommend more for sharing!
Overall, the food was not too bad but not impressive for us. But I appreciate how everything was hot when we received the food! The service was good too, we had an odd number of 5 pax and the staff helped shift us after some tables cleared for more spacious seating!
Decent food. Halibut fish and chips crispy outside moist inside. The lemon squeeze in the pouch is a nice touch. Barramundi whole fish came with its main skeletal bone removed!! Makes it easy to eat and minimal worry about bones. Clam chowder soup was flavourful. Caesar fries was a tad salty from the minced beef and melted cheese.
First time trying this place I would say I’m quite pleased the portion sizes and the fish was huge! Had the picked vegetable fish which was great. The lamb skewers were quite alright but the chicken was not up to par, and the pomelo mango sago wasn’t as expected as the mango cubes were underripe and sour sadly. Service wise it was pretty good though I had to wait awhile before they did notice me outside the at could be worked on. Overall pretty good! Would probably only come for the fish though.
This rating might be inflated but I just enjoy Tanyu. It's just pretty good food, especially with the occasional Grab dine out promos etc.
It's a bit on the pricey side and the wait for the fish can take a while, but I think it's acceptable for the food you get. You do definitely come out of it smelling like fish all over your clothes but I don't personally find it unpleasant.
I also like that they give a free tissue pack, which is a small gesture, but appreciated in Singapore (where so many restaurants charge you like $0.5-1 for not very useful wet tissues unless you proactively return them... Wild).
Come early for better seats — it gets crowded during peak hours!
They serve wonderful grilled fish in a variety of flavours. We ordered the sauerkraut version — Limbo — and it was a great choice, especially if you enjoy a spicy and sour kick.
Keep up the good work!
Excellent food and service. Staff was super nice and food was served promptly. It's all the way to the end of vivocity so not many people around. Definitely recommend this tanyu if you are in the area.
Drop by for the first time, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and nice 😊. If you’re looking to grab some Chinese dishes in Vivo City. We recommend here 👍
Really enjoyed the food at Tanyu! The grilled fish was super flavorful and the broth was rich and tasty. Portion size was good for sharing, and the side dishes went perfectly with the meal. Nice place to come with friends if you love bold flavors.
