Nam Kee Pau brings the beloved traditions of Johor Bahru legendary steamed bun heritage to Singapore shores, establishing itself as a go-to destination for comfort food enthusiasts seeking authentic flavours at honest prices. Since importing their time-honoured recipes from the famous Malaysian original, this homegrown chain has built a loyal following across the island by staying true to traditional preparation methods while maintaining wallet-friendly accessibility. The VivoCity outlet on the basement level serves as a convenient stop for shoppers craving that nostalgic taste of classic Chinese snacks made fresh throughout the day.
The star of the show is undoubtedly the Amy Yip Pau, a generously stuffed steamed bun named after the famous actress and packed with savoury minced pork, hard-boiled egg, and sweet Chinese sausage. These fist-sized beauties arrive steaming hot and pillowy soft, delivering the kind of satisfying comfort that keeps customers returning week after week. Beyond their signature creation, the menu extends to other traditional favourites including Char Siew Pau with its sweet barbecued pork filling, sweet options like Lotus Paste and Red Bean Pau, plus a selection of dim sum classics such as siew mai and glutinous rice chicken. Heartier appetites can opt for simple meals like mee hoon kuay soup noodles or Pork Belly Curry Rice topped with a rich onsen egg.
What makes Nam Kee Pau particularly appealing is the exceptional value proposition, with most items priced under four dollars yet delivering dependable, homemade-style quality. The straightforward approach to Chinese comfort food resonates with both elderly regulars seeking familiar tastes and younger diners discovering these traditional treats. Located in the bustling basement food precinct of VivoCity, it offers quick service perfect for grabbing a satisfying snack between shopping excursions or picking up takeaway buns for the journey home.

Recently renovated but seems like quality drop so much. The chee cheong fan was so hard and not fully cooked. Yam cake also lacking in taste. Even the koka noodle was quite oily. Disappointed

is disappointed when I open and see my Chwee Kueh looks like this.
Your staff got lazy until like this?
Asked for chili give me 1 dot only.
And most of your staff are very rude.
Please do something to improve.

Having a bad experience with this staff at Nam Kee Pau at VivoCity. We bought 6pcs of Siew Mai and asked the staff for Chili paste but she refused and insisted that we take the chilli padi. We had explained to her that we would like the chilli paste instead but she rigidly rejected even after a few tries. She kept saying it’s company policy. If it’s so, I hope the company will step out to manage this. I dun have this issue with other dim sum stall and I am truly surprised on how this staff is reacting for this matter it could properly be the company policy that she adhere to. I hope you will do some review on your policy on this. Anyway, she is just a staff I truly dun think it’s her initiative to reject request from customer for chilli paste. If you treasure your staff you should put their interests in mind as they are the one facing the customers and at times the anger will be dawn on them.

Nam Kee Pau is my favorite place to buy pao, but quite often they’re not available. This has happened several times already, including today. I hope the store can look into this, as it can affect the experience for customers who come back regularly.

Bought one take away big pau. Was attended by one Vietnamese woman. Her attitude was damn bloody bad and rude. At that point in time she was not serving any other customers other than me. When I told her off for her rude attitude, she said she was busy. Oh yes, she was busy standing in front of the cashier machine doing nothing. Will not patron there again.

A very decent Char Siew Pau! It is a bit on the sweet side but definitely one of our favorites now. We also tried the big pau and that was probably the best one we have had in Singapore. The siew mai was also delicious. Price wise it’s very affordable. There is no seating at the shop so we took our food outside and sat near the water. Highly recommended place.

The store is a takeaway only store, although there is a table just opposite.
I tried the Siew Mai. The siew mai was reasonably sized and was well seasoned.
