Ah Mah Homemade Cake has carved a sweet niche in Singapore's dessert scene since its 2017 launch, bringing the nostalgia of traditional Malaysian castella cakes to VivoCity's basement level. This popular bakery, which reportedly sold over one million cakes in its first years of operation, specializes in soft, fluffy egg sponge cakes that quite literally melt in your mouth. Operating from 10am to 10pm daily at unit B2-K7, Ah Mah draws steady crowds of customers seeking freshly baked treats that taste like childhood memories wrapped in contemporary packaging.
What makes Ah Mah's castella cakes truly special is their commitment to pure, quality ingredients and absolute freshness. Every cake is made with Grade AA high-quality eggs from Singapore's N&N farms, milk, and premium flour—with no added water, preservatives, colouring, or even butter. This dedication to simplicity and quality means each cake is baked daily and replaced with a fresh batch every 12 hours, ensuring customers always receive cakes at their peak softness and flavour. The signature Original and Cheese flavours are priced at and 1 respectively, while specialty options like the Ondeh-Ondeh Castella Cake (2.80) and Choco-Nana cake feature creative local and international twists on the classic recipe.
Customer testimonials consistently describe Ah Mah's cakes as tasting like "the softest, yummiest cloud" with a satisfying, airy texture that's just the right amount of sweet—not cloying or overwhelming. The key to enjoying these cakes is eating them fresh and hot straight from the store, when the fluffy texture and delicate flavours are at their absolute best. For shoppers navigating VivoCity or commuters passing through HarbourFront, Ah Mah Homemade Cake offers an irresistible opportunity to grab a quick, affordable treat that delivers both nostalgia and quality in every bite, making it a must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth.

The customer service is very bad. The young girl at the cashier counter is so rude like her boss owe her a lot salary. They need to train their staff to talk to customers in a friendly manner especially at the cashier. The cake is not freshly baked, cold and extremely sweet.

The store young lady is very very rude . I think the store boss owes her few months of salary. The cake is so bad, Half of the cake was uncooked and with runny dough. Worst, it turn sour.
This Ah Mah cake should have closed for good .

Terrible kuehs. So tough and overly sweet with no pandan flavour. My mom and I took one bite each and threw the rest away :') Maybe just stick to cakes

incident took place on15 Jan during lunch time around 12.50 PM. the lady wearing white shirt, Chinese, plump, in her 40s or older, rolled her eyes on me after I told her my order. i was polite and ordered ‘one cheese’. what was this rude lady doing at that time, she was cutting a big piece of cake and turned her back and picked up the cake right above the oven after hearing my order. i don’t mind waiting but why did she has to rolled her eyes on the customer? the whole experience was awful and i will stop buying from this outlet.

We bought one pack of castellan cake on last Sat afternoon between 3 pm to 5 pm for Sun breakfast.
The taste of the cake is not fresh as before. It could be unsold cakes for a certain duration. However we proceed to take as it's not spoilt.
However, today we take a few more pieces and realized the taste is not right. We conclude the castella cake could have been unsold for few days or other reasons that result it's taste being not good.
Thus, we truly hope the management could look into maintaining freshness of the cakes.
In terms of customer services, it's generally ok. The cashier attending to us is polite. However there is another female staff who ignored us and turned her head away even when we said thank you.

Tried Ah Mah pandan Castella Cake at VivoCity
It’s been a while since I last had castella cake, but I couldn’t resist when I passed by a stall at the VivoCity basement food walk.
The pandan flavor caught my eye, and they were making the cakes fresh on the spot — it was fun watching them flip the cakes and cut them precisely.
The price is slightly on the higher side ($12 plus) , but it seems they use quality ingredients, which shows in the taste. The cake was soft, fluffy, and had that lovely jiggly texture.
I was pretty happy with it overall and would definitely buy it again if the craving strikes.

4 star for the old gentle man who sold us almost 400 gms loaf of cheesecake for the price of one slice, SGD12.50. He found out we were tourist and said welcome to SG and asked us which we'd prefer, I love the original so ordered one slice after dinner to go, to our surprise he handed the loaf ♥️. As far as the cheesecake itself I've had better but the hospitality of Singaporeans is what amazes us.

Nice traditional sponge cake.
It’s not that sweet and it’s great.
Tried the double flavours.
The cheese is with two layers of cheddar cheese at the bottom.
On top is the sponge cake.
The original is very soft and not too sweet too.

Their cakes taste like the softest, yummiest cloud. They have such a satisfying, airy, fluffy texture. They are just the right amount of sweet (not too sweet) and absolutely delicious. My hubby and I demolished almost an entire cake in one sitting. I recommend eating it while it is fresh and hot — that’s when it tastes the best.

Tried Ah Mah Castella's pandan cake for the first time. It was so nice and fluffy! Will try other flavours next time. Big thanks to the friendly sales uncle!
