Chatterbox Cafe

food restaurant

Location: VivoCity

Chatterbox Café made its grand debut at WEAVE mall in Resorts World Sentosa on July 5, 2025, bringing the legendary heritage of Singapore's most famous chicken rice to the island resort. Since 1971, Chatterbox has been synonymous with the Mandarin Chicken Rice, a dish so iconic it earned the restaurant the unofficial title of serving "Singapore's most expensive chicken rice." Located at 26 Sentosa Gateway #02-207, this new café concept feels lighter and more playful than its Hilton Singapore Orchard flagship, with interiors that balance polished modernity with relaxed tropical tones befitting its pleasure resort address. Both indoor and pet-friendly al fresco seating welcome tourists and locals to experience this slice of Singaporean culinary history.

At the heart of the menu lies the legendary Mandarin Chicken Rice, now priced at an exclusive S$23++ for an individual set (around S$2-3 cheaper than the flagship location) or S$40++ for half a chicken. The dish is served with aromatic rice infused with chicken oil and pandan fragrance, soup, and the classic trio of housemade dips: dark soy sauce, chilli, and ginger. Diners can choose between tender breast or thigh meat. Despite its premium pricing, it remains one of the best-tasting plates of chicken rice in Singapore – the poached chicken is juicy and succulent, while the rice carries the perfect balance of savoury depth and fragrance. This is the dish that put Chatterbox on the map and continues to draw devoted fans across generations.

Operating daily from 11:30am-3:30pm and 5:30pm-9:30pm, Chatterbox Café is easily accessible from HarbourFront MRT via Sentosa Express. The restaurant's heritage spans over five decades since opening at The Mandarin Singapore in 1971, where German executive chef Peter Gehrmann first developed the menu featuring three local dishes. Today, Chatterbox Café extends that legacy to Sentosa, offering both the famous chicken rice and other Singaporean local favourites in a setting that captures the essence of island resort dining. Whether you're a chicken rice purist making a pilgrimage or a curious first-timer, this is where culinary tradition meets modern comfort.
