Sentosa Crocodile Alert: Water Activities Suspended

Water activities suspended at Sentosa beaches following a crocodile sighting. NParks and SDC are conducting searches. Stay safe and follow instructions.

Sentosa Cove Crocodile Sighting: Authorities Launch Search and Implement Safety Measures

In the late evening of January 31, 2026, the National Parks Board (NParks) and the Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) were alerted to a confirmed crocodile sighting in the waters off Sentosa Cove. Following a preliminary assessment that validated the report, a joint response team was immediately activated to locate the animal. The search remains ongoing as authorities work to ensure the area is secure.

Ongoing Search and Monitoring Efforts

The safety and well-being of residents and visitors remain the highest priority for both NParks and SDC. In response to the sighting, specialized teams are conducting a thorough search of the surrounding waters. To complement these efforts, SDC has significantly increased patrols and monitoring across all beachfront areas on the island to keep a close watch on the situation as it develops.

Temporary Restrictions on Water Activities

As a precautionary measure and in consultation with NParks, all water-based activities—including swimming and kayaking—have been suspended at Siloso, Palawan, and Tanjong Beach until further notice. While the beaches themselves remain open for land-based activities, visitors are urged to adhere strictly to all safety signage and instructions provided by ground staff. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates when it is deemed safe to resume water sports.

Public Safety Guidelines and Reporting

NParks and SDC would like to remind the public of the importance of staying vigilant. If you encounter a crocodile, the best course of action is to remain calm and back away slowly. Do not approach, provoke, or attempt to feed the animal, as this can lead to unpredictable behavior. To report a sighting or an encounter, members of the public are encouraged to contact the NParks Animal Response Centre at 1800-476-1600.
