NPDI Product Engineer

What a NPDI Product Engineer does at HP:

• Design & Development

• Create portions of engineering solutions for electrical/electronic parts, subsystems, and integrated circuitry based on established principles.

• Translate product specifications into technical documentation, CAD models, and BOMs.

• Ensure designs are functional, manufacturable, and cost-effective.

• Testing & Validation

• Develop and implement test plans for debugging defective hardware and process steps.

• Validate tolerances, form/fit/function, EMI, safety, reliability, and thermal performance.

• Publish test results and maintain thorough procedural records.

• Manufacturing Integration

• Support transition from prototype to full-scale production.

• Apply DFM/DFA principles to reduce complexity and eliminate bottlenecks.

• Collaborate with manufacturing teams for feasibility and quality assurance.

• Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and design optimization.

• Monitor field performance and gather feedback for future iterations.

• Collaboration

• Work closely with internal and outsourced development partners.

• Communicate findings and resolutions effectively across teams.

Qualifications

• Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials Engineering (or related field).

• Experience:

• 2–5 years in product development or similar engineering role, preferably in manufacturing or technology-driven environments.

• Skills:

• Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

• Strong understanding of product development processes, DFM/DFA, and quality systems.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.

• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
