Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on and technically proficient Marine ICT
Engineer to manage the IT and Communication infrastructure across our
fleet. Based in Singapore, you will provide critical support for vessel
networks, satellite communications (VSAT/L-Band), and onboard server
infrastructure.
The ideal candidate bridges the gap between traditional maritime operations
and modern enterprise IT, ensuring our vessels remain connected, cyber-secure,
and compliant with global regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Vessel Communication Systems (Satcom)
- Manage and maintain
marine satellite communication systems (VSAT, FBB, Iridium, Starlink)
ensuring high availability for business and crew welfare.
- Coordinate with HQ
and airtime providers to troubleshoot bandwidth issues, antenna blockages,
or signal degradation.
- Configure and
maintain VoIP and SIP telephony systems on board.
2. Network
& Infrastructure Management
- Design, deploy, and
maintain vessel Local Area Networks (LAN), VLANs, and Wi-Fi infrastructure
in complex steel environments.
- Configure firewalls
(e.g., Fortinet) to strictly segregate Business, Crew, and OT (Operational
Technology) networks.
- Manage onboard
servers, virtualization (VMware), and backup solutions (Veeam).
3.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Implement and
enforce IMO 2021 Cyber Risk Management guidelines across the fleet.
- Perform regular
security audits, patch management, and anti-virus updates for all onboard
endpoints.
- Perform weekly
checks of the vessels’ CCTV system followed by the relevant reports to HQ.
4. Technical
Support & Deployment
- Provide Tier 2/3
remote support to Captains and Crew regarding IT issues.
- Physically attend
vessels in Singapore (anchorage/terminals) for installations, health
checks, and emergency repairs.
- Manage the
procurement, configuration, and shipping of IT hardware to vessels.
Requirements
Technical
Skills
- Satcom Expertise: Hands-on experience
with hardware from Intellian, KVH, Cobham (Sailor), or Orbit.
- Networking: Strong knowledge of
TCP/IP, Subnetting, SD-WAN, and firewall policies. CCNA certification is highly desirable.
- Systems
Administration: Proficiency in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022),
Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Hardware: Experience
troubleshooting PCs, printers, and IoT devices in maritime environments.
Professional
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of
experience in Maritime IT or a System Integrator (SI) focusing on the
shipping industry.
- Proven experience
working independently on-board vessels.
Other
Requirements
- Must be eligible to
work in Singapore.
- Willingness to
travel to shipyards or other ports globally if required (approx. 10-20% travel).
- Ability to work
flexible hours to accommodate vessels in different time zones.
- Physical fitness to
board vessels via launch boat and climb gangways/pilot ladders safely.
